Goole on Film introduction

The Junction was packed to capacity for two screenings of 'Goole on Film' presented by Goole Civic Society on Saturday 24th January.

The two-hour film compilation was enthusiastically received by the two audiences, including the Vice Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Coun Linda Johnson and Consort Mr Graham Johnson, and the Mayor of Goole Coun James Cooper and Mayoress Mrs Lisa Cooper.

It featured footage from Pathe, the Yorkshire Film archive, Siemens, Yorkshire Waterways Heritage Society, former Goole Junior Chamber of Commerce, private collections and a specially commissioned video history of the Knottingley and Goole Canal produced by historian and film-maker Joshua Daniels.

One of the highlights was the premiere of the Goole Centenary song, Advance Goole! - last sung in 1926 - which was rearranged by Natalie Walker and recorded by the Warblers' Pop and Show Choirs.

The event was funded by the Goole Fields Wind Farms Community Fund. The Civic Society is considering further screenings, subject to funding being secured.
